Can I just say that this is the most bittersweet version of this song that I’ve heard? I received chills at the part where he starts humming. A moment of sad acceptance washes over you as you come to the realization that he was in so much pain, and his own pain ultimately lead to his demise. I think that’s really sad. He sounds so humble, and so at ease at the moment of the recording. I wish he had received that feeling more often.
